Islamic Jihad mourned Fathi Khazem after Israeli occupation forces shot him dead during a raid on his home in Jenin early Friday morning, Shehab Wire reported. Khazem was the father of two sons previously killed in conflict and of a daughter currently imprisoned. The movement characterized the killing as a "field execution" and declared that the attack would provoke a response.
The circumstances surrounding the raid and the military objective, if any, were not immediately disclosed. Khazem's death adds to a pattern of family members across multiple generations affected by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with his sons Raed and Abdulrahman having been killed previously and his daughter Shimaa held in detention. Islamic Jihad's statement suggested the organization views the operation as extrajudicial and a violation of international norms.
