Israel has renewed a ban on the imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al Jazeera English reported, as the military authority tightens control over the Muslim holy site in occupied East Jerusalem. Islamic Waqf officials, who administer the shrine, warned that their authority is shrinking as Israeli restrictions on Palestinians at the site expand.
The renewed ban marks the latest in a series of measures limiting Palestinian access and management of Al-Aqsa, one of Islam's holiest locations. Waqf administrators face growing constraints on their ability to oversee daily operations and enforce their own rules within the compound.
