Israeli authorities are forcing Palestinians in East Jerusalem to demolish their own homes, according to Dawn. Fayez Awad, 58, destroyed his property in the historically Palestinian neighbourhood of Silwan after being ordered to do so, leaving only one floor standing.
"We spent our whole lives building this house. This is all we managed to achieve in life," Awad told the BBC. "They brought us back to zero again, me and my children." The demolitions leave Palestinian families without shelter and represent a loss of decades of investment in their properties.
