The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights condemned Israeli authorities for escalating implementation of the E1 settlement project in occupied East Jerusalem, the PCHR reported. Occupation authorities recently opened a tender for construction of 1,234 settlement units, marking what the rights group characterized as a serious qualitative shift in the initiative's trajectory toward execution.
The development represents a move from planning into active implementation stages. The PCHR called for urgent and binding international action to halt the project. E1, situated in the eastern portion of occupied Jerusalem, has long been a focal point of Palestinian and international concern over settlement expansion.
