The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said settlement escalation in towns including Qassara, Jalud, and Qaryut, as well as dozens of other villages across the West Bank, represents a systematic campaign aimed at displacing Palestinians and uprooting them from their land, Shehab Wire reported. The faction said the activities are designed to impose new facts on the ground in the occupied territory.
The statement comes as Israeli settlement construction and expansion have continued across the West Bank despite international opposition. The Popular Front's accusation reflects longstanding Palestinian claims that settlement activity is meant to change the demographic and territorial balance in disputed areas and preclude the possibility of a future Palestinian state in the territory.
