Australia summoned Israel's ambassador to Canberra, Hillel Neumann, to protest Jerusalem's decision to close an investigation into the deaths of World Central Kitchen staff killed in Gaza, Shehab Wire reported. Among those killed was Australian citizen Zomi. The diplomatic summons marked an official response by the Australian government to what it characterized as a premature end to the inquiry.
The closure of the investigation prompted Canberra to lodge a formal objection through the ambassador's recall. Australian officials cited concerns over the termination of the probe into circumstances surrounding the deaths of the humanitarian workers, whose killing had drawn international attention and calls for accountability.
